TOM MUMMA Saxophones / flute / harmonica / vocals
On a warm fall afternoon, atop the highest mountain in India, sat a young Tom Mumma with his instrumental guru. The guru had every instrument possible set up for him to try. After playing through all of them, the guru gave him a choice....saxophone or trumpet. Young Tom sat and thought for a moment and then responded "saxophone"! When the guru asked him why, his reply was simple... "Because you can get more girls playing saxophone".
Impressed with the young man's wisdom, he gave him his instrument of choice.
Twenty-two years later: two tours of Europe, tours in California, Canada, and across the East Coast, recordings with Grammy nominated jazz artists, gigging with legends like Ellis Marsalis, Mike Vax, Ron Carter, and more, receiving the Louise Vyner Performance Award at Millersville University, serving as Student Director of the Jazz Ensemble at Millersville, guest appearances and steady membership in multiple jazz, funk, and blues bands in the Mid-Atlantic region, Director of Bands for the Penn Manor School District, and being known as one of the funkiest white boys this side of the Mississippi River! Tom is happy to be laying down some funky stuff with FULL TILT once again in his triumphant return to the band.
